When I was young, 

it seemed that life was so 

wonderful.

a miracle, oh it was beautiful, 

magical.

And all the birds in the trees, 

well they'd be singing 

so happily,

joyfully, playfully 

watching me.

내가 젊었을 적엔,

인생이 아주 아름답게 여겨졌죠.

기적 같고, 아름답고, 신비러웠어요.

아주 행복하고, 즐겁고, 명랑하게

But then they send me away 

to teach me how to be sensible,

logical, responsible, practical.

And they showed me a world where 

I could be so dependable,

clinical, intellectual, cynical.

하지만 사람들은 날 멀리 보냈어요.

합리적이고, 논리적이고, 책임감 있고,

현실적인 사람이 될 수 있게 가르치려고

말이죠.

그들은 내게 세상을 보여 주었죠.

믿음직하고, 냉철하고, 지적인 사람으로 

살아가야 하는 세상을.

한마디로 냉소적이 되라는 거죠.

what we've learned?

I know it sounds absurd,

but please tell me who I am.

온 세상이 잠들어 있을 때,

단순하기 그지없는 한 사람에게

너무나 어려운 질문들이 밀려와요.

제발 우리가 뭘 배웠는지

말해 주지 않겠어요?

바보처럼 들리겠지만,

제발 내가 누구인지 말해 주세요.

한마디로 식물 같은 사람을 원하는 거죠.
